Transit Services


A division of Public Works dedicated to bringing alternative modes of transportation to the Oro Valley community ensuring mobility for its residents. The division works with the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) to ensure local transit services work with the main fixed route system Sun Tran.

Coyote RunCoyote Run

The Town’s transit division operates Coyote Run the Town’s award winning demand response transit service for residents who are disabled and/or 62 years of age or older and otherwise would not have a way to get to doctor’s appointments or shop for groceries.  Coyote Run service extend throught the greater Tucson area to meet the needs of Oro Valley resident.

The Transit Services Division is responsible for monitoring of the transit services operated through out the Town to ensure effective and efficient use of resources. The division plans for transit infrastructure to support the service and enhance the community.

The division also has responsibilities which include (but not limited to) public outreach, procurement, grant writing, transit  research and transportation planning.  

Park-and-Rides

There are two park-and-rides in Oro Valley. They are both serviced by Sun Express and Sun Shuttle. Here are their locations:

  • 2291 E. Rancho Vistoso Blvd. (corner of Vistoso Blvd. & Vistoso Commerce Loop)
  • Riverfront Park on Lambert Lane

Accessibility

In addition to Coyote Run, there are other regional services for seniors and individuals with disabililties. Handi Car is part of the Pima County Special Needs Program provides transportation to persons with disabilities who reside in the unincorporated area of the County within the special needs eligibility area. Specific information, maps, and eligibility requirements are contained on their website. Service is limited in Oro Valley.


Sun Van, Tucson’s paratransit agency since 1987, provides transportation service to those individuals unable to use Sun Tran’s fixed route service due to their disability. Sun Van is available to individuals with disabilities with a current ADA Eligibility Card issued by the City of Tucson. Service is limited in Oro Valley.
