Steve Solomon moved to Oro Valley in 2002, although his business, Canada Vistas, has been developing exclusively in Oro Valley since 1994. His daughter, Allyson, is a 2010 graduate of the University of Arizona’s Eller College, and his son, Jason, is a junior at the U of A.
Among his projects is the Vistoso Town Center which contains the Honey Bee Village archaeological site. The successful, responsible and appropriate development of this property, which was fully entitled for development in 1987, required a new and unique approach in which all stakeholders worked together in partnership throughout the entire development design process. This was accomplished through a diverse working group which included representatives from the Town, Desert Archaeology, Pima County, Tohono O’Odham Nation, Arizona State Museum and Canada Vistas. The results were an integrated preservation and development plan including the formation and donation of the 13-acre Honey Bee Village Archaeological Preserve.
Solomon also developed Vistoso Hills, Vistoso Estates and Vistoso Pointe.
Solomon has been actively involved in a number of Town projects and committees on subjects including development, planning, building, parks and water. Most recently, he served on the Public Advisory Committee (PAC) for the Town’s Environmentally Sensitive Lands Ordinance (ESLO). Other volunteer service includes:
- Guest Instructor for the Oro Valley Planning Institute
- Vistoso Community Board of Directors
- Vistoso Pointe HOA President
