Description of Boards and Commissions
The Town of Oro Valley has taken every opportunity to establish community participation programs in which citizens can become involved. Boards, Commissions and Advisory Boards in various areas of interest have been organized for residents to take an active role in their Town Government. Board and Commission members are appointed by the Mayor and Town Council and serve two year terms, serving at the pleasure of the Town Council. If you would like to apply for any of the Boards or Commissions, please fill out an application form and submit it to the Town of Oro Valley, Clerk's Office, 11000 N. La Cañada Drive, Oro Valley, AZ 85737.Board of Adjustment
The Board of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial board that has the power to review and decide on administrative decisions or zoning requirements that create unnecessary hardships in the development of property because of exceptional or extraordinary conditions. Unlike other boards or commissions, the Board of Adjustment makes the final decisions on items that come before it. The BOA is a five-member board that meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 3:00 p.m.

Art Review Commission
The Art Review Commission (ARC) reviews proposals for public art that is required for non-residential developments as a part of the 1% for Public Art requirements for recommendation on design and location to the Council. ARC is a seven-member commission that meets on the first Tuesday of the month at 4:00 p.m.

Finance and Bond Committee
The Finance & Bond Committee advises the Town Council on Town budgetary issues and reviews expenditures from long-term debt issuances for conformity to the intended uses of the funds. The five-member Committee meets on a quarterly or monthly basis as needed.

Development Review Board
The purpose of the Development Review Board is to review and approve architectural design and layout of proposed development plans. This includes site planning and the relationship of the development to the surrounding environment and the community. The DRB is a seven-member Board which meets on the second Tuesday of every month at 6:00 p.m.

Historic Preservation Commission
The mission of the Oro Valley Historic Preservation Commission is to promote the educational, cultural and economic welfare of the Town of Oro Valley by insuring the preservation of historic buildings, districts, landmarks, structures, documents, photographs and other artifacts that represent the historic background and development of the greater Oro Valley area. The HPC is a seven-member commission that meets on the second Monday of the month.

Municipal Property Corporation
This is a non-profit corporation. The main function of the board is to construct and finance public facilities in accordance with specifications approved by the Town Council. The Municipal Property Corporation sells bonds in order to obtain necessary funds. The MPC meets on an as-needed basis.

Parks and Recreation Advisory Board
The seven-member Parks & Recreation Advisory Board acts in an advisory capacity to the Town Council in matters pertaining to parks and recreation, parks design, open space and trail use (prior to the review comments being submitted to other Boards, Commissions or the Council). Planning and Zoning Commission
The seven-member Planning and Zoning Commission holds public meetings and makes recommendations to the Town Council on all matters relating to the creation of zoning districts, the enforcement of zoning regulations, amendments to all zoning ordinances and any other matter within the scope of the zoning power. The Planning Commission meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 6:00 p.m.

Storm Water Utility Commission
The Storm Water Utility Commission is a five-member panel that makes recommendations on issues relating to the Utility including flood control, storm water quality management, service charges and bonds, and capital improvement projects. This Board meets the third Thursday of the month at 4:30 p.m.

Water Utility Commission
The Water Utility Commission acts as the official advisory body on water capital improvement program planning and rate structure formulation to the Town Council, in conjunction with submitting proposals to the Capital Improvement Program, etc. The seven-member Commission meets on the second Monday of every month at 6:00 p.m.
