Brian Garrity was hired in September 2007 as the Town’s first procurement official. Garrity came from the city of Tucson where he spent over eight years in municipal procurement serving in multiple roles.
In his short tenure with the Town, Garrity has already enacted a new procurement code and implemented a Web site where prospective vendors can download copies of solicitations, view bid tabulations and award notifications, follow links to the procurement code, view a vendor information manual and more.
Garrity is a member of the National Institute of Government Purchasing and currently serves as a board member of the National Purchasing Institute. He holds the professional designations of certified professional public buyer (CPPB) and certified purchasing manager (CPM). In June 2008, Garrity and the Town of Oro Valley were awarded the 13th annual Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award from the National Purchasing Institute.
Garrity has lived in Arizona his entire life. He is a graduate of the University of Arizona, where he was a Dean’s List scholar and member of the rugby team. Garrity is a recreational golfer who loves to spend time with his two young boys. |
