Darkhouse
Are you going on Vacation?
Leaving for the Summer or the holidays?
If you are going to be gone and your home left unoccupied for at least seven days, the Oro Valley Police Department can provide a home check. The service is free. As frequently as staffing allows, the Oro Valley Police Department and the members of our Citizen Volunteer Assistants Program (CVAP) will check the exterior of your home for security. If a problem is found, you or your contact person will be notified immediately. The home owner must provide the necessary information to the Police Department (e.g. an away phone number and up to three contacts, with names and phone numbers) and will be assigned a Darkhouse Number. At that time, additional information will be updated, such as visible cars in a driveway, pet sitter, etc. Please call (520) 229-5080 three (3) days prior to leaving to either register for the program or update the information already on file.
YOU MUST BE AN ORO VALLEY RESIDENT to participate in the program.; If your house is “for sale,” it can be checked, but only if furniture or property remains in the house.
To register, update your information or activate your home in the Darkhouse Program please call (520) 229-5080, Monday - Friday, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Please be sure to give any “away” details to the front desk personnel, do not leave this information in a phone message.
Please print the Registration Form, complete and submit or use it as a guide for telephone registration.
