Biography:

Ainsley Legner joined the Town of Oro Valley in 1999 as parks & recreation administrator. In 2006 parks and recreation was established as a department and Legner was promoted into the director position. This year, she is transitioning into her new role as director of the newly created Parks, Recreation, Library and Cultural Resources Department.

Legner’s career as a parks and recreation professional began in 1976 as a camp counselor and swimming instructor for the YMCA in Florida. In 1984 Ainsley accepted a position with the city of Maitland, Florida as the recreation supervisor. Legner completed her 15 years with Maitland as community programs administrator.

As the parks, recreation, library and cultural resources director, Legner works directly for the Assistant Town Manager and is responsible for the management of all town facilities and programs associated with parks, recreation, the library, trails, cultural resources and aquatics.

Legner earned a bachelor’s degree in management from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida in 1983 and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Central Florida in 1988.

Legner is a member of the National Recreation and Parks Association and is a Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP). She is also a member of the Arizona Parks and Recreation Association, where she has served as president, among other roles. Ainsley enjoys hiking, reading, travel and spending time with family and friends.
