Why can't I renew some items?

Reasons why you may not be able to renew your items:

  • Someone else has requested the item
  • Your item has already been renewed 4 times
  • Your account indicates you owe $5.00 or more in fines, which blocks the account
  • Your library card has been reported lost or stolen, which blocks the account
  • Your library card has expired, which blocks the account
  • Your account requires updating, which blocks the account

If your account is blocked or your items are overdue, please contact the library.

How do I renew library items?

Items can be renewed online, by phone or in-person at the library.

Renewing Items Online

  1. Login to My Account with your library card and PIN
  2. Click on the Checked Out Items button
  3. Check the box next to the title of the item you want to renew
  4. Click the Renew Selected Items button or Renew All button

Double check that the status shows Renewed (if there is a different status indicated, the item has not been renewed)

Renewing Items by Phone

Call the Oro Valley Public Library at 520-229-5300 ext. 3 to renew items by phone during business hours or call the Pima County Public Library system renewal line (available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week) using a touch tone phone.  Follow these instructions:

  1. Dial 903-2865 or 903-2866
  2. Enter 1 to renew items
  3. Enter in your library card number and pressing # on your phone
  4. Confirm your library card number (the system will repeat your library card number (if correct, press #; if incorrect, press * and enter your number again)

The system will tell you how many items you have checked out and how many are eligible to be renewed.

  • To renew items, press 1
  • To hear the barcodes of the items checked out, press 2

The system prompts you for the last four digits of the item barcode, repeats the numbers and prompts you to accept if correct or try again if incorrect; if accepted, the system will read the barcode and new due date.

  • To renew all eligible items, press 1
  • To renew items one at a time, press 2 (the system will read the barcodes and new due dates)

IMPORTANT:  Do not hang up until you have listened to the entire list.  Hanging up stops the process and your renewals will not be completed.  Hang up only after you have heard the item barcodes and new due dates of your renewed items.
