Project HERO
DK Advocates helps people with barriers to employment find meaningful jobs. Through Project HERO, they provide employment services in Tucson and Phoenix to U.S. Military Veterans with disabilities. They collaborate with private industry to expand job and career opportunities for our veterans. Project HERO offers job seeking skills, job development, employment retention services, peer support, job coaching and resume writing. The program is free to all participants. This program is funded with a "Projects With Industry" grant. It is a 5-year program effective 1 Oct 2008 - 30 Sep 2013 Funded by the Department of Education. It is an innovative program designed to help eliminate barriers to employment through training and supportive services such as:
  • Skills training 
  • Computer classes 
  • Peer support 
  • Job coaching 
  • Community mentoring 
  • Finding employment for unemployed veteran 
  • Retraining to maximize competitive employ-ability 
  • Job retention with a focus on career advancement
