Judge George A. Dunscomb, appointed in April 1999,
is the only full-time judge in the Oro Valley Magistrate Court. The
court hears all misdemeanor and traffic cases that occur within the town
boundaries as well as domestic violence and harassment injunction
petitions filed in the court.
Dunscomb was a practicing attorney with an office in Tucson for 19
years. Though his general practice had an emphasis on
guardianship/conservatorship, probate matters and family law, Dunscomb
has extensive experience with criminal and mental health law.
Before his appointment, Judge Dunscomb received his Juris Doctor degree
from the University of Arizona College of Law in 1979, after earning
bachelor’s degrees in history and government from Adams State College in
Alamosa, Colorado.
Dunscomb’s judicial philosophy is one that allows for individuals to try
correcting their errors through rehabilitation rather than punishment
when possible.
He is a member of State Bar of Arizona, Pima County Bar Association, and
the American Bar Association.
In addition, Dunscomb has studied Shotokan karate for over 30 years,
and, in his spare time, enjoys playing the euphonium with two Tucson
bands. |
