PLANNING & ZONING DIVISION
Planning and Zoning administers the Town's Zoning Code and the General
Plan for the harmonious growth of the Town. The division is
responsible for providing Planning and Zoning related services to the
community, Town Council, various Boards, the Planning and Zoning Commission,

What is Planning?
Planning is a continuous process to guide the preservation and
development of our neighborhoods, the community, and the region. To Oro Valley
citizens planning must be comprehensive, pragmatic and continuous; it must deal
with all aspects of development; and it must provide practical answers to
development questions. Our work complies with the statutory requirements and
incorporates the community’s vision. Planning is the first step in the
preparation of development regulations, which put into practice the goals stated
in the community’s plan.
The planning process involves community members working together to
develop a vision. The Oro Valley vision is stated in Focus 2020: Oro Valley
General Plan. This process involves professionals providing information,
citizens’ expressing desires and needs, and elected officials ensuring the
implementation of shared goals.

by blending the unique natural resources of our community
with quality, sustainable development. "Teams of
